Detectives from Swindon CID are investigating an assault which left a man with a head injury.
Sometime between 3.30pm and 4pm on Thursday April 2, a man in his 50s was assaulted in the alleyway behind the Moonrakers pub.
During the assault, he was struck to the head with an unknown weapon and suffered a head injury and a substantial amount of bleeding.
Det Con Stephanie England said: “Although the assault itself happened down an alleyway, we believe that prior to this there was a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect which took place near to the Premier Store in Whitworth Road. It is therefore possible that somebody may have witnessed this and may be able to help with our investigation.
”This could include any members of the public who were walking in the area, or passing motorists.
“This level of violence is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated within our community.”
The suspect is described as a white man aged in his 20s, dressed all in black, with a black motorcycle helmet on. He was riding a pushbike which may have been electric.
