The Halloween season is set to kick off in Swindon this year with an exciting treat: the return of pumpkin picking at Lotmead Pick Your Own this October.
Starting from Saturday, 7th October, Lotmead will once again transform its iconic spooky tunnel into the gateway to a pumpkin paradise. As visitors venture into the pumpkin field, they’ll be greeted by an extensive selection of pumpkins, making it Swindon’s premier destinations for pumpkin picking. From various sizes to different pumpkin types, as well as a delightful assortment of gourds and squashes, this is the perfect way for Halloween enthusiasts to dive headfirst into the spooky season.
Lotmead Pick Your Own, a beloved family day out in Swindon for over four decades, has recently come under new management, led by Paul Keene, with the able assistance of Farm Manager David Baird.
Paul brings a wealth of experience from successfully running Primrose Vale Farm Shop and Pick Your Own in Cheltenham for the past 25 years, turning it into Gloucestershire’s top pick-your-own destination, complete with a play area and a farm shop stocked with locally sourced produce.
Paul shared his enthusiasm for the new venture, saying, “We are delighted to have taken over the running of Lotmead PYO. Lotmead has a solid reputation as a great family day out in Swindon and beyond and we have exciting plans to build upon the great work over the last 40 years and bring new and exciting events and opportunities to the PYO.”
He added, “As much as there’s a change in the plans, at the moment we hope to make the transition completely seamless for our customers and we will continue to run the PYO as it has been. This means that pumpkin picking and Halloween fun will stay just as we know Swindon loves it this year, with a variety of different-sized pumpkins, squashes, and gourds available, and plenty of spooky inspiration, photo opportunities, and fun to get everyone in the Halloween spirit. ”
Paul Keene extended a warm invitation to ghouls, ghosts, and Halloween enthusiasts of all ages to come and pick their locally grown pumpkins. This year, there’s no need for bookings; visitors can simply turn up and enjoy the seasonal delights. Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome to join in on the Halloween fun.
Lotmead Pick Your Own welcomes visitors daily from 9.30 am, with the last entry at 4.30 pm. For the latest updates, information, and special offers, be sure to visit their website at www.lotmead.co.uk or follow Lotmead PYO on social media @lotmeadfarm.
