Longleat is gearing up to mark the highly anticipated return of Emma’s Afternoon Tea on March 9th and 10th with a delightful twist in collaboration with Luminary Bakery, a London-based social enterprise dedicated to empowering women facing social and economic challenges.
The Luminary Bakery team will craft 240 special mini cakes – one for each visitor who reserves a spot for the exclusive Afternoon Tea experience over the opening weekend. These delectable treats will be available in both plant-based and gluten-free options, ensuring inclusivity for all guests.

Drawing inspiration from the exquisite botanical artwork of Mary Delany, who once resided at Longleat House during her teenage years, the cakes promise to be a feast for both the eyes and the palate.
Mary Delany’s talent captured the admiration of luminaries of her era, including King George III and Queen Charlotte, who engaged her to contribute to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. Her botanical illustrations and papercuts remain cherished treasures within the Longleat collection.
Lady Bath, the visionary behind Emma’s Kitchen at Longleat, “Our collaboration with Luminary Bakery celebrates women’s control over their own lives, which is particularly fitting given the fact that these special afternoon teas will be served to our visitors just after International Women’s Day and on Mothering Sunday, she said.

“Over the years, Longleat House has been home to many women who have pushed boundaries, including Mary Delany, and it’s wonderful to be able to celebrate her beautiful artwork through Luminary’s magnificent cakes. I can’t wait to try one!” she added.
Leila Siassi, Managing Director of Luminary Bakery, echoed Lady Bath’s sentiments, acknowledging Mary Delany’s remarkable achievements and the importance of honouring her legacy. Siassi expressed pride in collaborating with Longleat to bring Mary Delany’s art to life through their delectable creations, embodying the spirit of empowerment that transcends time.
The collaboration between Longleat Estate and Luminary Bakery not only celebrates the rich heritage of Longleat House but also exemplifies the transformative impact of supporting women’s empowerment initiatives. Luminary Bakery’s recent Impact report underscores the success of their two-year programme, with 96 per cent of women achieving independence and 89 per cent engaging in Employment, Education, Volunteering, or Training.
Guests can indulge in Emma’s Kitchen Afternoon Tea at the Orangery in Longleat for £29.50. For further details and reservations, visit www.longleat.co.uk/things-to-do/eating-and-drinking.
