Local Election – The Results

The Swindonian will be live at the count this evening bringing you the results as they happen.

21:47 – Not long now until the polls close and the race is on to get the ballot boxes to the Oasis. Can the Swindon counters beat Sunderland to the first result. Only time will tell.

Your Holiday Starts Now

22:03 – Reports of voters being turned away for not having any id with them despite the huge amount of publicity surrounding the need to take it.

One of the counters having a bit of fun this evening

22:21 – Looks like someone blaming the id trial on their lack of timekeeping! Voting closed at 10pm

22:53 – Not a lot going on right now. Rumour has it we may be ready in just over an hour!

23:23 – The nominees from Chisledon & Lawn have been called in, the first result is on the way.

The first result is in Conservative candidate Brian Mattock is elected councillor in Chiseldon and Lawn

The second result is in for the Lydiard and Freshbrook ward. Conservative candidate Timothy Swinyard has been re-elected.

Six more seats are about to be called which will leave just six more remaining, going to be an early finish here tonight (unless Wroughton has another recount that is!)

Shaw goes to Conservatives with Mary Martin keeping her seat and St Margaret and South Marston is also called Conservative
