The Swindon based charity Upland Enterprise Trust would like to announce that their new Online store is up and running.
Prior to the Covid pandemic, the Trust used to run several charity shops where young people supported by the Trust could gain valuable retail experiences. As a result of Covid, the charity shops closed, resulting in a loss of traditional retail and salestraining for the young people.
Lennie Compton-Dear, Online Store Lead reflects: “As a result of the pandemic and having to close our charity shops, we took the decision to create our own Online storeto be able to continue supporting young people during the pandemic. The young people have adapted quickly to this new way of training and learning and are now involved in every aspect of running this internet focused business, from designing the online store, selecting high quality donated goods, taking professional photos through to order fulfilment”.
Since its launch in October 2020, the Online sitehas proven very popular, not just with the public who can donate or buy exclusive items such as home-made preserves and goods made from recycled wood.
24-year-oldRose, who has been supported by the Trust for several years, comments, “I like making things look their best; ready for taking pictures”.
