Liz Truss promises to tackle energy crisis this week!

Liz Truss has this afternoon made her first address to UK as prime minister after formally being invited to form a government in an audience with the Queen at Balmoral Castle earlier today.

The UK’s third ever female PM said her first priority will be to “cut taxes to reward hard work” and will also promised “action this week” on energy bills

I plan to “get Britain working again” via a “bold plan to grow the economy through tax cuts and reform” she said.

“Secondly, I will deal hands on with the energy crisis caused by Putin’s war. I will take action this week to deal with energy bills. And to secure our future energy supply,”

The new premier said fixing the NHS would be her third priority.

“Thirdly, I will make sure that people can get doctor’s appointments and the NHS services they need. We will put our health service on a firm footing by delivering on the economy on energy and on the NHS.”

It is widely reported that she will this week announce a cap to the typical household bill at £2,500 a year – some £500 higher than the current level but over £1,000 below next month’s planned cap.
