Lawn Manor Academy has announced its new Head Pupils for the academic year, with Year 11 pupils Eddie and Rofiat elected to the prestigious roles.
The pair were chosen following a rigorous application process which included written applications, campaign speeches and videos, before being elected by their peers in a whole-school vote. The process gave every pupil the chance to take part in democracy in action.
Wearing distinctive turquoise ties and role badges, Eddie and Rofiat will act as a vital link between pupils and school leadership. Their responsibilities include representing the student voice, ensuring all pupils feel heard, and supporting with key events such as open evenings and tours for prospective families.
Rofiat, who hopes to pursue a career in medicine, said:
“For me, this role is about making sure pupils and school leaders are in sync so no one feels left out. I want to make sure young people are listened to, and this gives me the opportunity to put their ideas into action.”
Eddie added:
“It’s a big privilege to be a Head Pupil—it’s a great accomplishment. My duty is to help the school keep improving and ensure everyone feels safe and valued.”
Russell Langdown, Head of School, praised their early impact:
“Already in just the first few weeks, Eddie and Rofiat are excelling in their roles. The process is highly contested every year and not only provides invaluable experience in leadership and campaigning, but also enables the whole school community to engage in democracy. With the voting age now lowered to 16 nationally, our young people understand more than ever the importance of their voice.”
