Tui Group’s CEO, Sebastian Ebel, has cautioned that last-minute deals and affordable flights will be scarce this summer advising that people should not anticipate discounts just before their departure.
This is due to the enormous demand being experienced by Europe’s biggest travel group in the first full summer after the pandemic.
Greece is currently the most popular destination, with some locations already at capacity.
In previous years, a “last-minute summer” was available, but Ebel has stated that this will not be the case this year with demand for holiday flights exceeding supply.
Speaking to the German weekly newspaper Bild, Ebel said “There will be no last-minute summer as in previous years.”
“On the contrary, prices will tend to be higher rather than lower shortly before departure, because hoteliers and airlines also know that a lot is still booked at short notice,”
“Spontaneous bargains will be the absolute exception.”
