Thousands of pounds worth of drugs have been recovered after police stopped a VW Golf near Trowbridge yesterday.
The car was stopped on Blackthorn Way, Staverton at around 10.30am and after a short search 1.4 kilos of cannabis with a street value of up to £14,000 was discovered.
The driver, a 28-year-old local man, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and taken to Melksham custody – he has now been released under investigation.

Sgt David Hambly said: “This was good work by one of our officers PC Storm Brand who had suspicions about the vehicle and decided to carry out a stop and search.
“The quantity of drugs found was substantial and it’s good to know that through this proactive piece of work, this large amount of cannabis has now been removed from the supply chain and taken off the county’s streets.”
