Junction 16 works are making good progress, with over 10,000 hours worked on site in May. Currently the majority of work on site is drainage and earthworks, as well as a number of utility diversions (including Vodafone and BT). This month works are also starting on pavement formation and the kerbs on the South Inner side of the roundabout. The contractor has also started to work on the signals at the M4 Westbound Exit Slip Road.
The construction works may start to impact your journey as works increase on the southern half of the roundabout. In mid July there will be a one night closure (8.00pm to 6:00am) of the B4005 Hay Lane from Spittleborough Roundabout to the Junction with Wharf Road. This is to enable the contractor to complete the widening of Hay Lane. There will be a diversion in place, but access will be maintained for residents and businesses in the closed section.
Road users should also be aware that from late August there will be a temporary restriction in place that will block right turns into and out of Lydiard Fields to enable the contractor to undertake works on the Great Western Way.
This work is expected to take approximately 3 months, but will keep you updated on progress. Access to Lydiard Fields will be maintained at all times. Details of the diversion arrangements will be available on the website in due course.
