Join the Big Bug Hunt at Haynes Motor Museum

Microscopic monsters are invading Haynes Motor Museum this October Half-Term and they need intrepid bug hunters to track them down.

Running from Saturday 21st to Tuesday 31st October, the Big Bug Hunt is a brand-new free family trail.

Visitors are invited to seek out the creepy crawlies that threaten to eat their way through leather, wood and fabric and find out how the Museum’s stop them from gnawing their way through the historic car collection.

Your Holiday Starts Now

Collect a trail sheet at reception and find the giant cards dotted around the Museum with statistics for each bug including size, number of legs and destruction factor.

The trail is included as part of the admission price and everyone who successfully tracks all the bugs down will receive a sticker.

The Big Bug Hunt is just the start of a fun family day out. Discover some of the magnificent motors in the world, from the most valuable car in the Museum, the Duesenberg and the iconic Williams F1 car FW14, driven by racing legend Nigel Mansell to the world’s first motorised vehicle, the Benz Motor Wagen.

Create your own design on the interactive paint a mini, discover the cinema in the Williams exhibition, create a brass rubbing and tiny drivers can navigate their way around the Museum in the fleet of Little Tike cars.

Opened in 1985, the Museum was the brainchild of John Haynes OBE in 1985, mastermind behind the world-famous Haynes car manuals.

Housed within 15 exhibition areas, it’s vast collection spans everything from the birth of motoring and nostalgic classics of the 50s and 60s, to glorious Bentleys and Rolls Royces and the stunning supercars of today.

Located just off the A303 at Sparkford in Somerset, it’s the perfect place for a fun, family day out or the ideal stop-off point.
