A Swindon housebuilder has created an exciting new role and is recruiting for an ‘Archi-tot of the future’ to design a house suitable for 2074.
Redrow South West, currently building at Badbury Park on Homington Avenue, aims to engage youngsters in Swindon and the surrounding area to design a house fit for the needs of future families. From mood-changing wallpaper to self-restocking fridges, the designs must encompass modern living standards, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
Children aged four to sixteen can apply for this unique role by submitting their futuristic home designs on the Redrow website. The chosen Archi-tot will not only win a prize of £100 but also secure £150 in artwork vouchers for their school or college.
The winning design will be preserved in a time capsule at the nearest Redrow development, awaiting discovery fifty years from now. Submissions are open until midnight on Friday, 17th May, offering imaginative youngsters the chance to become Redrow South West’s Archi-tot of the future.
Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the company’s commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering creativity within the construction sector.
“In our 50th year of housebuilding, we’re looking to the future by calling on Swindon and the South West’s most creative young talent to imagine what a home will look like in 2074. From convertible roofs for those hot summer nights, to self-tinting windows and robot gardeners who mow the lawn, we’re looking for the most adventurous and ambitious designs.
“Here at Redrow South West, we’re committed to bringing young people into the construction sector and are recognised by the industry for our training excellence and apprenticeship programme.
“What better way to celebrate the creative talent of local youngsters and showcase the wonderful imagination and creative abilities of the next generation? Who knows, we could even put in a good word for the winner to become one of our new apprentices where they might find themselves building their design in years to come!”
With twelve developments across the region, Redrow South West continues to uphold its reputation for excellence in construction and training. To learn more about their projects, including Badbury Park, visit redrow.co.uk/locations/south-west.
