In the early stages of the investigation, the incident was being treated as arson and as part of our investigation, a woman aged in her 20s was interviewed under caution.

However, following a lengthy and robust investigation by detectives at Swindon CID, they have now confirmed that the cause of the fire was accidental and no further police action will be taken.

Det Con Stephanie England said: “I am satisfied that, having completed extensive enquiries and having liaised with the Crown Prosecution Service, no crime has been committed and that this fire was not started deliberately.

“I hope the local community feel reassured by this outcome and they can now look forward to the shop moving into its new premises.”
