The London Marathon takes place tomorrow morning with thousands of runners taking on the traditional London course raising vital money for charities while completing their personal goals at the same time.
The 42nd London Marathon is being held in the autumn for the third and final time before moving back to spring next year. The event was moved to later in the year due to the Covid pandemic.
Around 40,000 people will take on the 26.2 miles mass event between Greenwich and the Mall and there is a great way of tracking your loved ones as they run the race, by using the TCS London Marathon’s official mobile app.
The app lets you track particular runners throughout their race and also send a message of support to them to appear on the finish-line gantry on the Mall as they complete the challenge. All the running updates are calculated using timing mats which are placed at five-kilometre markers throughout the race.
The Android version is available here and the iPhone version here.
The app also allows participants to record their own run and listen to an inspiring soundtrack as they take on the challenge. There are also expert tips and advice on the app for runners taking part ahead of Sunday’s race.
For those watching at home the event will also be broadcast live on the BBC from 8:30am. The London Marathon app can be draining on your phone battery, so ensure you pull the app back to the homescreen, meaning it will be operating in the background.
