The Government yesterday expanded its list of people who can get tested for coronavirus, are you included and if you are how do you arrange your test?
The list now includes all essential workers, anyone over 65 with symptoms, and anyone with symptoms whose work cannot be done from home.
Who can be tested?
- All essential workers including NHS and social care workers with symptoms (see the full list of essential workers)
- Anyone over 65 with symptoms
- Anyone with symptoms whose work cannot be done from home
Anyone living in the same household as any of the above can also now request a test.
Additionally, tests will be made available for:
- Social care workers and residents in care homes (with or without symptoms)
- NHS workers and patients without symptoms where there is a clinical need
How do I arrange a test?
You are able to refer yourself (quickest option) or you can be referred by your employer for a test if you are an essential worker.
Self-referral
Essential workers who are self-isolating can book a test directly. You can select to go for a test at a regional test site drive-through appointment or have a home test kit delivered to you.
The availability of home test kits will initially be limited, but more will become available.
The testing centres closest to Swindon are Bristol Airport, Oxford and Salisbury so you may want to opt for the home testing pack.
