Home Bargains to Close for Three Days Over Christmas Celebrations Across UK Stores

Discount retailer Home Bargains is earning accolades for its thoughtful gesture, announcing the closure of all its branches for three days during the Christmas period.

In a move aimed at allowing staff to fully immerse themselves in the festive spirit with family and friends, the closure will take place on Christmas Day (December 25), Boxing Day (December 26), and New Year’s Day (January 1).

As part of this festive initiative, it is anticipated that Home Bargains will also implement early closures on Christmas Eve (December 24), aligning with the practice observed in previous years.

Taking to Instagram, the retailer shared the heartwarming news, stating, “CHRISTMAS ANNOUNCEMENT. All of our stores will be closing for Boxing Day & New Year’s Day. We would like to thank all our staff for how hard you have worked this past year and want you to relax and enjoy the Christmas break with your loved ones. Love from team HB.”

This decision by Home Bargains reflects a commitment to recognising and appreciating the dedication of its staff throughout the year, offering them a well-deserved opportunity to unwind during the festive season.

We posed the question on our Facebook Page – ‘Is it time all retail shops followed in Home Bargains lead?’

Fiona Macfarlane responded in the same way as the majority of respondents, “Yes, everyone needs the choice to be at home during the festivities.”

Marcy MB echoed her comments “All shops around close Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.”

But, not everyone was of the same thinking. Fiona Patterson-Cheek was one of the handful who wanted stores to remain open stating “No, not if you’ve had a miserable Christmas and actually need to access a food shop.”

Taking a more practical approach was the idea of Ian Cooksley who said “A more sensible option would be, to give staff the choice to work or not!”
