Home Bargains have confirmed that it will close all its stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to enable all its staff to enjoy the festivities with loved ones.
To enable its colleagues to enjoy time with friends and families it has also announced that stores will close at the earlier time of 5pm on Christmas Eve.
A spokesperson for Home Bargains, which employs more than 28,000 staff in nearly 600 stores, said: “We know how hard all our colleagues have worked throughout the year. Being a family-run business, we recognise the importance of spending quality time with our loved ones.
“Therefore, we feel it is only right to support our valued store teams by giving them extended time off around Christmas and New Year.”

Iceland and Food Warehouse stores will also be closed on Boxing Day to give colleagues a “well-earned rest with their friends & families” said Iceland boss Richard Walker.
2022 also saw Morrisons, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Aldi close on Boxing Day, a move that is fully expected to be repeated again this year.
