Labour’s Candidate for the next Member of Parliament for Swindon South, Heidi Alexander, has unveiled an exciting series of “Big Conversation” and “Pint and Politics” events set to take place across the town.
As the general election year gains momentum, these events aim to foster open dialogue and engagement with the local community.

Building on the success of her previous Big Conversation in October, which focused on the future of the town centre, and a subsequent event at St Paul’s Church in Covingham in December, Heidi Alexander is gearing up for a fresh round of interactions in February.
The upcoming events include:
Saturday, 3 February: East Wichel Big Conversation, Stoweaway Centre on Staldon Road, 10:30-11:30 am
Tuesday, 6 February: Pint and Politics upstairs at The Hop, Devizes Road, 7:30-9 pm
Saturday, 10 February: Badbury Park Big Conversation, Badbury Park Community Hub, Homington Avenue, 10:30-11:30 am
Tuesday, 13 February: Pint and Politics, The Nine Elms Pub, Old Shaw Line, 7-8:30 pm
Tuesday, 20 February: Pint and Politics, Shaw Village Inn, Ramleaze Drive, 7-8:30 pm
Saturday, 24 February: Central Swindon Big Conversation, Bakers Cafe, Emlyn Square, 10:30-11:30 am
Details of her March programme will be unveiled in due course.
These informal events are open to everyone residing in Swindon South. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Heidi, meet local borough and parish councillors, and pose questions regarding their concerns.
Heidi Alexander expressed her commitment to representing everyone in the South of the town, stating, “Since moving back home to Swindon a few years ago, I have knocked on thousands of doors, but I am very conscious that we don’t always get everyone in, and I would like to give everyone an opportunity to meet with me before the next general election.”
As a candidate, she has pledged to be available year-round, working full-time on behalf of Swindon, with no second jobs outside of Parliament. Her focus will be on addressing key local concerns, including the cost of living, the state of the town centre, the need for better-paying local jobs, the NHS, crime, and affordable housing.
Heidi welcomes input from the community, stating, “As a candidate, I want to hear what people’s priorities are. Everyone is welcome to attend these events. I can offer tea and biscuits on Saturday mornings, but if you want a beer at one of my Tuesday evening ‘pint and politics’ sessions, I will have to ask you to stump up – soft drinks will be free, though!”
These events mark a significant effort by Heidi Alexander to engage with the Swindon South community, providing a platform for open conversations and addressing the pressing issues facing the town.
