The Energy Rebate scheme, announced by the Chancellor in February, to help people cope with rising energy bills entitles owners of eligible households in England to receive a £150 energy rebate payment paid by Swindon Borough Council, originally due in April, but due to some technical difficulties was delayed.
It has now been confirmed that over 45,000 people in Swindon have now received the Government’s £150 energy rebate payment with others waiting until at least June for their money.
A Swindon Borough Council spokesperson confirmed ‘There are still some payments to be made and everything is being done to get these out to eligible residents as soon as possible.’
If you’re eligible but haven’t received your payment yet, then please note:
A number of payments were rejected by the banking system so letters will be sent to these residents throughout June to advise on how to redeem the payment
Some residents who pay by Direct Debit and have moved house recently, or those who hadn’t paid by Direct Debit before April will still be awaiting their payments. The council advise these payments should be made before the middle of June.
If you don’t pay Council Tax by Direct Debit, but you’re eligible for the scheme, The council will write to you in June with guidance on how to access the payment.
If you have any questions about the payments, visit the dedicated FAQs webpage on the Swindon Borough Council website.
