Getting You Home Safe: New Campaign to Support Safe Nights Out in Swindon

A new partnership initiative has launched in Swindon to help people enjoy the festive season safely. Getting You Home Safe, led by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire, brings together police, the council, local venues, transport providers and volunteer groups to strengthen safety in the town’s night-time economy.

Key measures include:

  • Increased street presence – More police officers and community wardens on patrol.

    Your Holiday Starts Now
  • Taxi marshals – Helping people queue safely and get reliable transport home.

  • Trained venue staff – Including support schemes like Ask for Angela for anyone feeling unsafe or needing discreet help.

  • Volunteer support – Groups such as Night Angels and Night Wardens offering reassurance and assistance.

The campaign aims to create a safer, more welcoming night out for Swindon residents and visitors during the busy festive period.
