Get Cancer Checks, Urges Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, Following Her Own Surgery

Sarah Ferguson, also known as the Duchess of York, has urged everyone to prioritise cancer screenings after revealing her personal experience with the disease.

The 63-year-old, who was formerly married to Prince Andrew, brother of King Charles, underwent successful surgery after breast cancer was detected during a routine mammogram screening. Her prognosis is reported to be promising, according to her spokesperson.

In a podcast episode titled ‘Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah,’ released the day before her surgery, Ferguson emphasised the significance of medical check-ups, drawing attention to her father’s battle with prostate cancer.

She expressed the importance of spreading awareness, stating, “It’s very important I speak about it. I don’t mind if no one wants to hear from me… I want every single person listening to this podcast to go and get checked, go and get screened.”

While currently recuperating at her residence in Windsor alongside Andrew, despite their divorce in 1996, the couple remains close friends. Ferguson expressed gratitude towards the NHS staff who identified her cancer and provided treatment.

She commended their efforts, saying, “A really big shout out for the NHS and for helping me, and… all the doctors and nurses, the hospital staff that are working so hard to help me and the lovely nurses that are so comforting, and the counseling. It’s just all very strong unity of facing an enormous fear but you’re not alone.”

Following her divorce from Andrew, the duchess, affectionately known as “Fergie,” has successfully embarked on a new career as an author. Her inspiring journey and determination serve as a testament to overcoming life’s challenges and finding fulfillment beyond difficult circumstances.
