The Conservative Party are expected to have won a majority of 86 at the general election with Boris Johnson set to return as prime minister, according the exit poll.
The poll commissioned by Sky, BBC and ITV gives the Tories 368 seats with Labour on 191, the SNP on 55 and LibDems 13.
If confirmed when the votes are counted, this would deliver the largest Tory majority since 1987 and would clear the way for Mr Johnson to take the UK out of the European Union on 31st January.
It would be Jeremy Corbyn’s second loss in a general election campaign as Labour leader and many believe his last.
The Tories began the campaign with a big poll lead, but Labour started to close the gap as the the weeks wore on. The exit poll will come as a relief for Conservative strategists, who sent an email to party activists on Thursday afternoon warning that Labour turnout was high.
