As the Fleming Way improvement scheme continues to make progress, an important milestone that will affect many Swindonians using the town centre is on the horizon.
The pedestrian subway beneath Fleming Way is scheduled to close on the 14th of August, paving the way for its demolition by the project’s main contractor, Colas.
The removal of the subway is a significant step that will facilitate the creation of a new, pedestrian-friendly area, complete with a traffic light-controlled pedestrian crossing.
During the subway closure period, a designated diversion route, as indicated below, will be in place to guide pedestrians to and from The Parade shopping area. Clear signposts will be placed strategically near the train and bus stations to ensure smooth navigation.
