Final call for brave Firewalkers – with double the impact for local charity

There’s still time to sign up for an unforgettable night of fire, courage and community as Society Without Abuse (SWA) hosts its charity Firewalk at Swindon Cricket Club on Friday 10 October – and thanks to match funding, every pound raised will now go twice as far.

Sponsored by Gel Studios, the event challenges participants to walk 15 feet barefoot across burning embers reaching 1,500 degrees. While that might sound daunting, the fiery feat is designed to reflect the bravery of survivors of domestic abuse, and the first steps they take towards safety and freedom.

Natasha Moyles, Operations Manager at SWA, said:
“Walking across fire is a powerful way to show solidarity with survivors of domestic abuse. Each step symbolises the courage it takes to escape, heal and rebuild.”

To make the event even more impactful, SWA has secured a place in the Big Give’s Women & Girls Match Funding Campaign. This means every donation made between 8–15 October will be doubled up to £5,000, supporting SWA’s life-saving services for women, children and families, as well as prevention and education programmes.

The evening will also feature food, drink, and entertainment for family and friends who come to cheer on the Firewalkers.

Date: Friday 10 October, from 6pm
Venue: Swindon Cricket Club
Cost: £30 entry + £100 fundraising pledge
