An evening of food, music and fundraising in support of animals in need is returning to Ilminster this autumn, as Ferne Animal Sanctuary prepares for its 2026 Charity Gala.
Following the success of last year’s event, the gala will take place at The Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster, on Friday 16 October, bringing together supporters, local businesses and members of the community for a night aimed at raising much-needed funds for the sanctuary.
Guests will arrive to a welcome glass of Prosecco or orange juice before sitting down to a two-course meal. Entertainment will come from DJs Baroness Boogie and Nelle Curtis, with a silent auction and raffle providing plenty of opportunities to try your luck while supporting a good cause.
Among the prizes on offer are a champagne afternoon tea for two at The Ritz, artwork, an overnight stay at The Old George in Broadwindsor, a Boss handbag, wine from Louma Country Hotel, Ferne limited edition hoodies, an Honor Pad 9 tablet and a Galaxy smart watch.
Emma Purnell, Chief Executive Officer at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, said the charity was delighted to be bringing the event back after last year’s success.
“The gala is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food, music and company while helping the animals who rely on Ferne,” she said.
“We would particularly love to see businesses from across the region booking tables, whether they are bringing colleagues together, thanking their teams or entertaining clients.
“As a non-government funded charity, events like this make an important contribution to our work. The money raised will help us continue to provide food, shelter, veterinary treatment and ongoing care for hundreds of animals.”
The gala is also being promoted as an opportunity for local businesses to get together, with tables available for groups of 10.
Tickets are £49 per person, including the welcome drink, two-course meal and entertainment. The event is for over-18s and the dress code is evening wear, although guests are not required to wear black tie.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary has been providing refuge and rehabilitation for animals for more than 85 years. The charity cares for more than 300 animals across its 72-acre site in the Blackdown Hills near Chard, within an area designated as a National Landscape.
As a charity which receives no government funding, Ferne relies heavily on donations, fundraising and the support of the public to continue its work.
For those looking for an excuse to get dressed up this autumn, the gala offers an evening out with a difference – and every ticket, auction bid and raffle entry helping to keep the sanctuary’s residents fed, sheltered and cared for.
