The annual Swindon and North Wiltshire Scouts Firework and Bonfire Spectacular at Lydiard Park and the Swindon Lions Club display at the Polo Ground attracts thousands of families each year while there are numerous other well attended smaller events at parks, community centres and pubs are also likely to be under threat.
While no decisions have yet been taken on the town’s biggest displays, after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his ‘rule of six’ restrictions last week, many other towns and villages across Britain have been calling off events because of the Covid-19 crisis.
It seems very unlikely that many of this year’s displays will be able to go ahead on or around November 5th.
The Swindon and North Wiltshire Scouts annual Firework and Bonfire Spectacular is still planned to go ahead at Lydiard Park on Saturday 7th November 2020 – Admission: £8 Adult, £4 Child (3-14 years) – Tickets can only be purchased at the gate and are not available in advance.
