Energy bills capped for two years from October

In her first major announcement since becoming Prime Minister, Liz Truss has announced that an average household in the UK will spend no more than £2,500 on energy.

This new cap replaces the previously announced £3,549 that was due to take effect in October.

“We are supporting this country through this winter and next, and tackling the root causes of high prices so we are never in the same position again,” Ms Truss told parliament.
