The UK government has recently announced the specific dates for the £150 disability cost of living payment.
Approximately six million individuals who qualify for disability benefits will receive the assistance automatically within a two-week period, beginning on June 20th and ending on July 4th. The Department for Work and Pensions has outlined the eligibility criteria for the payment, ensuring that eligible individuals will receive it directly in their accounts.
The £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment is in addition to the up to £900 that most low-income benefit claimants will also receive. This combined support aims to safeguard the most financially vulnerable members of our society from the impact of rising costs during this challenging period.
These payments are part of a comprehensive government support package, which includes means-tested Cost of Living Payments of up to £900 and £300 Pensioner Payments.
Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Mel Stride MP, emphasised the significance of this payment, stating, “This payment helps protect those who need our support the most, providing a vital financial boost to six million disabled people.
“Our multi-billion-pound package of support reinforces our commitment to help UK households with the rising cost of living, building upon record increases to benefits and the national living wage.”
Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove MP, added, “We recognise that the cost of living has risen for disabled people, and that’s why we are taking action to alleviate the financial pressures they face.”
Moreover, pensioners can expect further payments of £300 later this year, resulting in a total direct Cost of Living Payment of up to £1,350 for some of the most vulnerable households.
