Police investigating a shooting in Swindon have made three further arrests, bringing the total number of people detained in connection with the incident to eight.
Officers were called to St Paul’s Street in Gorse Hill shortly before 9pm on Friday, 19 June, following reports that a gun had been fired.
A man in his 30s was found with a suspected gunshot wound and was taken to hospital. Wiltshire Police said his condition remains critical but stable.
A 20-year-old man was arrested overnight in Swindon on suspicion of attempted murder. In addition, a 19-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were arrested in the Dorset Police force area on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
All three remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
The latest arrests follow five others made during the investigation who have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Those individuals include a 51-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, a 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs, a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and a 33-year-old man and 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation.
A police cordon remains in place in Farnborough Road as officers continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for information from members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or have relevant dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage.
