Families in Swindon are in for a treat this Easter as Lydiard Park gears up for a packed programme of activities, adventure, and tasty treats including the much-loved Lydiard Park Easter Trail which returns this April, promising an exciting experience for both children and adults.
Set within the stunning Grade II listed grounds, the Easter Trail will take families on a journey around the lake in search of clues about the park’s fascinating wildlife. Those who complete the trail will be rewarded with a special prize – a perfect incentive to get everyone involved.
The Easter Trail takes place on Easter Sunday, 20th April, from 11am to 3pm (last entry at 2:15pm). Trail sheets can be collected from the Coach House Activity Centre, and participation costs £5 per child. The activity is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
For those looking to get creative, Lydiard House Museum will be hosting Growing Sunflowers sessions on Thursday, 10th and 17th April. Budding young artists can decorate their own plant pot before planting a sunflower seed to take home and nurture. These family-friendly sessions will take place in the Main Hall of Lydiard House and are included with museum admission.
Entry to the museum costs £6.70 for adults and £3.65 for children (under threes go free). Family tickets are also available.
Visitors can also treat themselves to a hearty Sunday roast at the Lydiard Park Hotel’s Palm Bar and Restaurant. A traditional roast with all the trimmings will be served on Sunday, 20th April. To book a table, guests can call 01793 464644 or email LydiardHotelReception@swindon.gov.uk.
Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Planning, said: “It’s fantastic to see so much happening at Lydiard this spring. From the Easter Trail to creative activities and a delicious Sunday roast – there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The team at Lydiard Park do an amazing job organising events throughout the year, so keep an eye out for more to come.”
The Forest Café and Coach House Tea Rooms will also be open throughout the Easter holidays, offering a tempting selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks, and light lunches – perfect for refuelling after a busy day exploring.
Don’t miss out on a fun-filled Easter at Lydiard Park – it’s the perfect way to welcome spring with the whole family.
