Early Morning Collision Leads to Arrest on Suspected Drink Driving Charges

In the early hours of this morning, police arrested an individual under suspicion of drink driving following a collision that occurred at the junction of Cricklade Road and Menham Road in Swindon.

Upon receiving reports of an incident involving a Ford Focus, officers promptly arrived at the scene. To their surprise, they discovered a man in his 40s attempting to change a tyre in the middle of the carriageway.

Subsequently, the local man was taken into custody on the grounds of suspected drink driving and taken to Gablecross custody for further questioning.

Assistant Inspector Will Ayres of the Roads Policing Unit said, “Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences, all of which increase the risk of you being involved in a serious or fatal collision.

“Over the coming weeks, Wiltshire Police is making road safety an absolute priority through robust enforcement and driver education.

“Please think carefully about the choices you make before getting behind the wheel of a car.”
