DW Sports have entered into administration this week, putting more than 1,700 jobs at risk at its 75 stores and 73 gyms.
25 stores closed just before the administration announcement was made with closing-down sales running across the remaining 50 shops that are open, with all products now discounted. Fourteen gyms are yet to reopen although some of these remain closed due to local Covid-19 guidance.
Visitors to the chains website are advised that orders already placed will still be sent out though returns must be made by post.
Administrators will look to save as many jobs as possible by selling all or part of the business as a going concern.
Graham Newton, BDO business restructuring partner, said: “The well-publicised challenges for the retail and leisure sectors from the impact of Covid-19 have significantly affected DW Sports’ business. However, we are continuing to trade while we explore the sale of as much of DW Sports’ business as possible.”
