Drivers are being urged to be more vigilant after a number of complaints about cars driving the wrong way down a Rodbourne one way street.
The constant infringement has prompted residents of the street to contact the council to try and improve the signage to ensure there are no excuses for drivers to go through the road the wrong way.
Labour councillor Jim Robbins said “I’ve been asking for the Council to act for some time, and have been told that the signage is sufficient.”
“I’m contacted by residents on a regular basis saying that people are going the wrong way and there have been numerous near misses.”
A Swindon Borough Council spokesman said: “We have been monitoring this particular section of road closely and will soon be refreshing the road markings, and installing a new ‘one way’ sign, to ensure the rules are clear.
Hi @SwindonCouncil. Remember how I’ve been telling you for months that the signage on the one-way bit of Linslade St isn’t good enough and you say it is? Could you explain to me why one of your vans is currently parked there facing the wrong way? #epicfail pic.twitter.com/3orzvoX2xH

After a recent picture of a council vehicle was shared on social media the council also wanted to reiterate that their own staff were not exempt from following the road signs.
