Driver Clocks 113mph on M4 as He Wanted to Show His Passenger How Fast His Car Goes

In a shocking incident on the M4 motorway earlier today, a driver of a Volkswagen GTI was stopped by Wilshire Police after being caught driving at a dangerous 113mph.

What’s more alarming is the driver’s excuse for such reckless behaviour.

As the sun beat down on the motorway, officers from the Wilshire Police Roads Policing Unit (RPU) were carrying out speed checks when they detected the Volkswagen GTI hurtling down the motorway at a speed far exceeding the legal limit.

Upon pulling over the speeding vehicle, officers were met with an excuse that defied belief. The driver explaining that he was merely ‘showing his passenger how fast his car was.’

Speeding remains one of the top concerns for road safety, and it’s categorised as one of Wilshire Police’s ‘fatal five’ factors that contribute to road accidents and fatalities. Excessive speed not only reduces a driver’s reaction time but also increases the severity of collisions.

In this case, the driver’s attempt to impress his passenger by pushing the car to dangerous speeds could have had catastrophic consequences. The M4 motorway is a busy thoroughfare, often filled with a mix of vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles and families on their travels. Driving at such speeds endangers not only the driver and their passenger but also the lives of other road users.
