Domestic Abuse Charity Opens Second Survivor Shop in Marlborough Town Centre

Society Without Abuse (SWA), a charity working to end domestic abuse through education and intervention, will officially open the doors of its second Survivor shop on Wednesday 4th June.

Nestled in Hughenden Yard, just off Marlborough High Street, the new store promises to bring stylish, high-quality pre-loved women’s fashion to the town — with a powerful purpose behind every purchase.

Founded 50 years ago in Swindon, SWA has been quietly but effectively changing lives, and since 2019, its first Survivor shop in Swindon has built a reputation for premium donated fashion and accessories. The Marlborough branch will mirror this success, while also playing a vital role in supporting the charity’s life-saving programmes.

Kate Rowland, CEO of SWA, said:

“We’re incredibly excited to become part of the Marlborough community.
Our new shop offers not only a wide range of quality pre-loved women’s clothing and accessories, but also the chance for people to make a real difference with every purchase and donation.”

She added that the shop is not just a place to buy and donate – it’s a way for locals to get directly involved with ending the cycle of abuse.

“Our shop in Swindon has already gained a reputation for selling top quality brands, and we will be offering more of the same in Marlborough too.”

The charity is appealing to the community for support in the form of donated items, volunteering time, and simply helping spread awareness. All money raised in the shop will go straight into SWA’s programmes – from working with children and schools to tackle abuse at its roots, to supporting behavioural change in adults who show harmful tendencies.

Among the charity’s key programmes is HOPE, which helps young people recover from the trauma of abuse, and Open2Change, a ground-breaking project that works with perpetrators to stop repeat offences. SWA also delivers training to businesses and community leaders to help them better understand, respond to, and support those affected by domestic abuse.

The Marlborough Survivor shop will be open six days a week from 10am until 4pm.
