Students at Devizes School, part of The White Horse Federation, are celebrating today after achieving an impressive set of GCSE results.
This year’s results have seen a number of standout individual successes. Among those celebrating are Gracie Martch-Harry, who achieved six grade 9s, three grade 8s, and a distinction; Charlotte Hillman, who earned five grade 9s, three grade 8s, and a distinction star; and Annabelle Darko, who secured four grade 9s, four grade 8s, and a distinction star. Other students achieving remarkable results include Aiden Hinton, Reuben Goodridge, Libby Drewitt, Cameron Rolley, Susannah Raby Cox, and Kieran Perrett, all of whom earned a significant number of top grades across a range of subjects.
Headteacher David Cooper expressed his pride in the students’ achievements: “Since meeting this cohort of young people for the first time in September last year, they have continued to impress me with their commitment to their work, as well as the supportive ethos and sense of community they have cultivated. They have excelled on the stage, on the sports field, and in all aspects of school life, and now they have added an absolutely fantastic set of exam results to this list of achievements.”
Mr. Cooper also looked forward to welcoming many of the students back to the school’s sixth form, while offering his best wishes to those pursuing other opportunities. “For those who are departing to seek opportunities with employers and other training providers, I wish you well on behalf of the whole school community – you will be very much missed,” he added.
Simon Cowley, interim CEO at The White Horse Federation, also congratulated the students: “Huge congratulations to Year 11! Well done on your results. I am very grateful to all our staff for the hard work they put in every day, and I also want to thank all the parents and carers for their continued support, which we greatly appreciate.”
In the lead-up to the exams, Devizes School provided extensive support to ensure that all students were fully prepared. This included additional subject-specialist revision lessons in English, Maths, and Science for the first half hour of the school day, as well as voluntary revision sessions held after school, during holidays, and on the mornings of each exam. These sessions were incredibly well attended, resulting in over 3,000 additional hours of learning. Students also benefited from free subscriptions to bespoke online revision packages and face-to-face revision sessions with subject-specialist teachers throughout the exam season.
The results achieved by this year’s cohort are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the students and the staff at Devizes School. As the students move on to the next stage of their lives, whether continuing their studies at sixth form or pursuing other paths, they leave with a strong foundation for future success.
