A Devizes woman has raised more than £3,000 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance after bravely throwing herself out of a plane in memory of her dad.
Sara Lambourne, who works as secretary at Mike Wood Tyres, took on the challenge to mark two milestones — 20 years since her family took over the long-running Devizes business and eight years since the passing of her beloved father, Ian.
Ian and his wife Annette took over Mike Wood Tyres two decades ago, building a reputation for honest service, quality products, and genuine community spirit. Since Ian’s death in 2017, Annette, Sara, son Jay, and their dedicated team have kept those values alive — continuing to serve Devizes motorists with the same warmth and expertise the business is known for.
Sara said the skydive was a fitting tribute to her dad, who was helped by Wiltshire Air Ambulance before he passed away.
“Before the jump I was nervous, but also proud of what I’d achieved so far,” she said. “The experience was incredible – and now it’s over, I just hope my dad would be proud of me and our family.
“My dad had the biggest smile and a heart of gold. He was the best dad anyone could wish for. I’m so grateful to everyone who’s donated, helping Wiltshire Air Ambulance continue their amazing work supporting people when they need it most – just as they did for us.”
So far, Sara’s fundraiser has topped £3,000, but she’s hoping to reach £3,500 to further support the charity’s lifesaving missions across Wiltshire and Bath.
