Despite a football game at Lydiard and a house party in Rodbourne only one fine handed out all weekend

Despite numerous reports of residents hosting parties this weekend and groups gathering at Lydiard park for a football match only one fixed penalty notice was handed out by Wiltshire Police throughout Swindon.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We have been pleased to see that the vast majority of people have understood the importance of the Government’s social distancing rules and have acted responsibly.

“Over the weekend we issued just one fixed penalty notice, which highlights how well people are using personal responsibility to keep themselves and others safe.

The police spokesman advising “We cannot provide updates on every single report we have received, but we want to reassure people that all reports are reviewed and assessed to determine if a proportionate police response is required.”

  1. Neighbours on both sides had people over for bbqs over the weekend, but this went ignored and probably just put down to us being those neighbours who inform the police when things aren’t great next door. Like the drug deals that happen and the domestic violence too. All gets ignored and we get told to keep out of their business. Unbelievable.
