Design a charity Christmas card for 2023

Grab your crayons, pick up your pencils and dust off your paint brushes as one local charity is looking for young artists to design a Christmas card for their 2023 collection.

Prospect Hospice sells Christmas cards each year to help raise money to fund end of life care for local people.

With something for everyone, The collection features a range of images from religious settings, local scenes and animals so there’s always.

Next year however, the charity’s card collection will feature a design by a young local artist and the competition is now open for those aged 11 and under to enter.

Victoria Canavan, head of retail at Prospect Hospice, said: “Our Christmas cards are incredibly popular with our customers and they love to see the different designs we have each year. As they’re supporting the hospice with their purchase, we know they’ll love to see something designed by a local child on the front and we’re looking forward to seeing the designs that come in. I can already predict we’re going to have a tough time picking a winner.

To enter, children will need to complete their card design on an entry form available to collect from the charity’s shops or the hospice’s reception in Wroughton.

There are no restrictions to the image you create. It could depict what Christmas means to you, it could be a scene that makes you think of Christmas or it could be something you think will sell well with customers in their shops. You can also use whichever materials you like from charcoal to crayon, pencils or paint. The charity does ask, wherever possible, that these images are hand drawn rather than digitally created and that there are no items stuck to the card as they’ll be unable to reproduce this in the production process.

The winner will receive five packs of their card design and be given the opportunity to meet the delivery at their local Prospect Hospice shop and help get these out on the shelves for sale.

To enter, completed entry forms must be handed in to a shop or the hospice reception no later than 5pm on Saturday 7th January 2023 and a winner will be notified later in the month.
