Dear Swindon, Merry Christmas, you’re a great bunch!

Well, it is that time of year again, Christmas is looking very different to what we all hoped and expected and as we look ahead to the new year, the team at The Swindonian would like to thank our readers and advertisers for their continued valued support..

At the end of what can only be described as a challenging and difficult year, one that none of us could have foreseen just twelve months ago, we have to reflect.

Covid-19 goes far deeper than losing the freedom to pop to the pub or fly off on holiday. Some people have lost businesses they have spent their lives building and for those of you who have lost loved ones, our hearts and sympathies are with you.

Your Holiday Starts Now

Please try and switch off the news this Friday, Covid and Brexit will still be there on Saturday (unfortunately), take the day for yourself and your families to enjoy each others company, whether that is in person or Zoom, as although Christmas will look very different this year, it is still Christmas!

Whilst you are tucking into your Christmas dinner, please spare a thought and maybe a raise a toast for those working in the NHS and other key sectors, Christmas Day is just another working day: Doctors, nurses, paramedics, care workers, midwives, together with police officers and the fire service, we rely on these people to keep things running and keep us safe while we enjoy our time off. THANK YOU!

From everyone at The Swindonian: thank you to the community of Swindon for your ongoing support this year and special thanks for so many acts of kindness that we have had the pleasure to report on – People may slate Swindon but you’re a great bunch! We wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year and let’s hope that 2021 is a better year than 2020.
