The Community Policing model, launched in October, places the community at the heart of the work of officers, encouraging a “one team” approach to local policing.
Each of the seven community policing teams across the county – Wiltshire North, Wiltshire West, Wiltshire East, Wiltshire South, Swindon North, Swindon West and Swindon South – is led by an Inspector and made up of Sergeants, Community Co-ordinators, PCs, PCSOs, Local Crime Investigators and Specials.
They work closely with other departments within the police force, such as 101 and 999 call-takers, CID and Public Protection.
The new model was rolled out following a successful one-year pilot in several areas of the county. Due to the success of the pilot, the decision was made in May 2016 to implement the model across the whole force area.
And now Wiltshire Police is asking the public what they think.
Assistant Chief Constable Kier Pritchard said: “We’d be really interested to hear what the public have to say about our new model of policing and how things might be improved.
“We’ve worked really hard to put policing in the heart of our communities, and now we’d really like to hear what those communities think.
“Has policing in Wiltshire changed for you? Have your experiences of policing improved since October? These are the sorts of things we’d like to know to try to make policing in Wiltshire as good as it can be.
“I encourage the public to take part and look forward to hearing what they have to say.”
