Wichelstowe is set to host a community event filled with food and entertainment on Sunday, 11th August, from 11am to 2pm.
This event, open to everyone, provides a fantastic opportunity for visitors to experience the lively new community that has blossomed at The Orchards at Wichelstowe.
A range of stands from local companies will be featured, offering a variety of activities. Rev’d Owen Green, co-minister at The Stowe, has played a pivotal role in organising the event. He stated, “We want to help neighbours become friends and find ways of connecting with others and their wider local community, so this becomes an even more welcoming, flourishing place. There will be fun activities for all who come along, a chance to get to know one another and experience what this new community has become.”
Owen has collaborated closely with Barratt Homes Bristol and Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, who are generously providing a pizza and milkshake van, as well as an ice cream van, ensuring free refreshments for all visitors. Children can enjoy face painting and a games area, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.
Daniel Pavely, Project Director of Wichelstowe, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “We’re excited with the prospect of seeing the Wichelstowe community come together for this event – it’s a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the unique spirit and camaraderie that defines our new neighbourhood.”
The event will take place along Scott Way, opposite David Wilson Homes’ Orchards Rise sales arena, and will feature a variety of local groups and activities, including:
- Kingfisher School: Arts & Crafts
- Deanery Fencing Group: Fencing Demonstrations
- Local Martial Arts Club: Martial Arts Displays
- Wichelstowe Runners: Running Group Information
- The Stowe Church: Community Engagement
