The ongoing project at Coate Water Roundabout and its surrounding area continues to make strides and is expected to reach completion by the end of this year, marking a significant milestone in Swindon’s infrastructure development.
Following the recent closure of the subway on Queens Drive, significant progress has been made. The subway, along with the adjacent slopes, has been filled to achieve the correct levels required for the construction of new footway and cycleway links. This essential groundwork sets the stage for improved pedestrian and cyclist connectivity.
In the coming weeks, the focus will be on laying the foundation for the new footway and cycleway link to the north of Queens Drive, seamlessly connecting with the newly established Toucan crossing.
Swindon Borough Council is reminding residents of the forthcoming closure of the subway on Marlborough Road, scheduled for Thursday, 8th June. Once closed, similar to the actions taken on Queens Drive, the subway and surrounding slopes will be filled.
Looking ahead to late June, routine maintenance work will commence on the opposite side of the roundabout at Marlborough Road. Specifically, the bridge deck will undergo re-waterproofing along the section of the road exiting Coate Roundabout, heading towards Commonhead Roundabout. Lane closures will be implemented to facilitate the completion of this crucial maintenance task.
