Old Town & East Wichel Councillors, Nadine Watts & Jane Milner-Barry, welcome the news that the Co-op is coming to East Wichel.
The Co-op will open at Unit E in Staldon Court, just off East Wichel Way.
There is a licensing application to permit the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises between the hours of 07:00 to 22:00 Monday to Sunday.
Old Town & East Wichel Councillor, Nadine Watts, said,”It is brilliant news that the Co-Op will be opening in East Wichel soon. Residents have waited a long time for a local shop to open; for somewhere they can walk to get a pint of milk, loaf of bread and more.
East Wichel has a lot going for it. I am so pleased that the Co-op and dentist will be opening, along with the existing excellent primary school and the Bayberry pub.
There is a strong sense of community in East Wichel and this will be another reason for people wanting to live here.
Furthermore the work is progressing in Middle Wichel with the new secondary school, new housing at Canalside and new Hall & Woodhouse pub/restaurant, everything is finally coming together.”
