Closure order for flat linked to nuisance and disorder

Officers in Swindon have successfully been granted a partial closure notice for an address associated with nuisance and disorder.

The closure order has been issued under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act for a flat in Roseberry Street.

Officers sought the partial closure order following concerns that a vulnerable resident was being regularly exploited by drugs gangs.

The order prevents anyone who is not the owner or resident of the address from entering the premises and will provide the resident with protection and enable him to live without fear and threat of violence.

PC Craig Thompson, who is the community coordinator for the Broadgreen area, said: “The activity at this address has been an ongoing concern for police, as well as residents living nearby and it has been having a really negative impact on their lives.

“I am pleased that, through joint working between ourselves and the Adult Sexual Exploitation Team, we have been able to secure this order which prevents anyone other than the resident from entering the property – anyone who does will be committing an offence and may be arrested.

“I would encourage anyone concerned about criminal activity in their neighbourhood to report it to police on 101, or 999 in an emergency.”
