Passengers travelling from Bristol Airport this morning face disruptions due to a crash on one of the main roads leading to the airport.
The A38 shut down between the two airport roundabouts shortly after 1am this morning according to Avon and Somerset police.
An airport representative remarked that the crash had resulted in delays for “passengers, staff, and our own shuttle buses.”
At 4:50 am on Saturday, the airport issued a statement notifying passengers that “flights will not depart from Bristol Airport this morning until 08:00.”
They advised, “Passengers scheduled to fly this morning are recommended to allocate additional time for travel to the Airport and verify flight details with their airline.”
The disruption affected 29 flights slated to depart between 6:05 am and 8 am, with an additional 24 flights after 8 am facing delays. It is estimated that over 6,000 passengers will be impacted by the delays.
Just after 8am, the airport posted an update on X, previously known as Twitter, confirming that flights were now operational for takeoff and landing.
The initial departure from the runway, at 8:01 am, was the delayed 6:05 am easyJet flight to Rome. As of 8:50am, 15 flights have successfully departed from the airport.
