Care home residents could get two regular visitors from April

Care home residents in England are set to be able to have regular visit from a single family member from next month under the Government’s plans to lift lockdown.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed last week that subject to receiving a negative Coronavirus test, those living in care homes will be able to have a single regular visitor indoors from 8th March.

Today’s road map suggests the government are hoping to increase the number of visitors to two, once the data allows it to do so. The decision is expected in the next few weeks with the double visitation rights set to start from 12th April.

In the meantime, care homes are being urged to allow outdoor visits, and using screens or pods indoors to allow residents the opportunity to see more than just their nominated visitor.
