Calne Tesco Staff Join Forces with Local Volunteers to Tackle Litter

Staff from Calne’s Tesco Superstore joined forces with local volunteers for a day of litter picking, making a noticeable difference to their neighbourhood.

The clean-up, led by the store’s Community Champion, Lisa McCulloch, saw employees from the Beversbrook Lane branch work alongside the Calne Clean-Up Crew to tidy the surrounding area.

The dedicated group spent the day clearing rubbish that had accumulated around the store and nearby hedges, collecting bags full of discarded items that had marred the local landscape. McCulloch explained the importance of the initiative, stating, “We’re conscious that a lot of litter can accumulate around the store, mostly getting caught in the hedges, and of course wildlife can be affected, which is not something anyone wants.”

Tesco staff and volunteers from the Clean-Up Crew scoured the area, filling multiple bags with everything from plastic bottles to food wrappers, all with the goal of making Calne a cleaner and greener place to live.

McCulloch praised the efforts of both her team and the Calne Clean-Up Crew, acknowledging the regular work done by the local group to keep the area tidy. “We’re passionate about looking after the area where we live and work, and we want our customers to enjoy their shopping experience in a clean and tidy store and parking area,” she said.

“We’re grateful to the wonderful people of the Calne Clean-Up Crew for helping us keep on top of the litter. They do an amazing job every month to keep Calne bright and tidy.”
