Calendar Club returns to Swindon town centre for 19th year

Calendar Club, one of the best-known UK retailers of calendars, diaries and planners, have returned to The Brunel Shopping Centre for the 19th Year.

Swindon was one of Calendar Clubs first stores in 1998 and the retailer has been back every year since. Selling around 4 million calendars each year Calendar Club are recognised as one of the nation’s best short-term retailers and appear in town centres across the UK from September to the end of January.

Glenn McWhinney, Calendar Club’s Marketing Manager, said: “Shopping centres like The Brunel are key to the ongoing success of Calendar Club as they provide us with the ability to meet our customers’ demands on their busy Christmas shopping outings each year. The Brunel is a great example of how important it is for retailers to stay present in shopping centres and on the high street, supporting local economies in the process. We look forward to another vibrant season with The Brunel.”

This year Calendar Club’s sister shop, Halloween HQ, opened in the shopping centre last week and is proving to be very successful.  Retail spending on Halloween has seen significant growth in recent years and is now estimated to be over £400 million pounds, compared to £12 million in 2000.

Jane Stewart, Marketing Manager of The Brunel said: “We’re delighted that Calendar Club continues to recognise what a great place Swindon Town Centre is for their business and that they choose to return to The Brunel year after year.   We’re also delighted to welcome Halloween HQ for the Halloween period.  Having tried to engage some local businesses in a Halloween store in The Brunel to no avail, we were delighted that Halloween HQ agreed to come.  They have shops in large premier shopping centres, such as Liverpool One, Bluewater and Resorts World Birmingham, so it is fantastic that we can now offer this shopping experience to our customers.  This is a true vote of confidence in Swindon Town Centre.”

Halloween HQ is open until 11 November and is situated on the lower level of The Plaza, next door to Sainsburys and Havelock Square entrance.  Calendar Club is also situated on the lower level of The Plaza, but near to the Canal Walk entrance.  Calendar Club will trade until end January 2018.
