The government are today advising travellers returning home from Northern Italy, Iran and South Korea should self-isolate at home if they start to feel ill.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock went one step further requesting those who have been to areas locked down by Italian officials, both the Lombardy and Veneto regions, should quarantine themselves even if they don’t feel ill.
Speaking to LBC News he said: “The official advice which will be formally updated at eight o’clock this morning is going to change so that those who have been to northern Italy – north of Pisa – if they have flu-like symptoms should self-isolate.
“If people have been to the affected areas that the Italian government have quarantined then they should self-isolate whether or not they have symptoms.”
The updated advice has also asks people returning from Iran or the cities of Daeugu or Cheongdo in South Korea to stay at home for two weeks.
